Huddersfield is a market town in West Yorkshire. It has a population of 162,949 and a current average sale price of £164,630. The town is located 14 miles southwest of Leeds.

Huddersfield was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The town is a centre of manufacturing and played an important role in the Industrial Revolution. Huddersfield has a high number of Victorian buildings. Victoria Tower on Castle Hill was erected in 1899 and is a Grade II listed building. Huddersfield Town Hall was constructed between 1875 and 1881. St Peter's Church is Grade II* listed and dates from 1836. Holy Trinity Church is also Grade II* listed and opened in 1819. The George Hotel is a Grade II listed building and is known for being the birthplace of rugby league in 1895. Huddersfield Art Gallery hosts a number of exhibitions. The Lawrence Batley Theatre hosts comedy, dance, music and drama.

A range of events take place in the town, including Huddersfield Festival of Light, Huddersfield Caribbean Carnival and Huddersfield Literature Festival.

The town has facilities for sports such as football, rugby and hockey. Huddersfield Town A.F.C. play their home games at Kirklees Stadium, which has a capacity of 24,121.

Huddersfield has a number of primary and secondary schools, including Huddersfield Grammar School. Huddersfield New College and Greenhead College both provide sixth-form courses. Kirklees College is a further education college with a campus in the town. The University of Huddersfield gained university status in 1992, and has 18,280 students.

Huddersfield railway station offers services to destinations including Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Hull, Halifax, Bradford, York, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Scarborough. There are bus services in operation in the town.
